WotLK Raid Guide in Development

I'm currently working on an extra page for this blog - a full guide for all of the first raid encounters in LK (Naxx, EoE and OS).

It's going to take a little longer than I expected it would, and I've gotten to thinking: Will anyone actually use it?

It'll be a full guide if it goes ahead, with all strategies sorted by role. For example:

***
Tanks:

Main tank does this thing. Offtank laughs at the healers during emote spam.

DPS:
During phase 1, faceroll. Phase 2, rage.

Healers:
Quietly cry about how under-appreciated you are throughout the encounter.
***

I need to know whether or not we'll get any use out of it; if we won't use it then there's no sense making it :P

Feel free to mail me your thoughts in-game or leave a comment here (captcha disabled for now, may come back if we get spammed with... spam).

  1. Now just preface everything I say here with "IMHO, and personally". OK?

A 'quick guide' would be a useful reference document. Cata will be out shortly and Northrend will be forgotten for a while. But hey, people still do BC raids for rep and achieve, and people have memory problems after not being in a particular raid for a long time and need a refresher.

Yes, you can always go searching youtube for videos, but who wants to watch a long and involved video for a serious level 70 raid, when all you really need is a concise round-up with reminders of major points?

I think I've just said "please go ahead, but make it brief".

  2. That's the plan so far - keep it simple and relevant.

There are two big reasons why I'm wanting to try this one out. First, we likely won't be seeing Cataclysm for a few months, so it'll still be a handy tool in the meantime.
Second is to find out if this sort of thing is useful - if it is then I can find a format that works for everyone and write up the same thing for the cataclysm raids.

It'll include details for achievements too (I 'm planning on going after all of them), so even if it's old content it'll still be useful.

  3. Oh yes! Achievements... I'm still plodding my way through old content achievements.

  4. I am definitely in favour of this so long as it is light and humourous in tone and doesn't labour under the assumption that raiding in WoW will give my life meaning and be the most important thing I will ever do.

  5. It'll definitely be light and humourous wherever I can allow for it.

I'm trying to keep it as minimalist as I can when it comes to the strategies, so the information is easier to get to in a hurry.

(Hmm, I apparently forgot to hit the Post Comment button and this response has been sitting here for hours, neglected. Meh *shrugs*)

  6. Oh Sporran, isn't WoW more meaningful than, say, laundry?
    It's certainly more fun.
